Away Days is an independent documentary project focused on the international underground. We report from the fringes of society, embedding ourselves amongst countercultures, black markets, gang wars, and more.

Journalist Jake Hanrahan (host / creator) and filmmaker Jonny Pickup (director of photography / co-creator) have both spent the last decade in places they shouldn’t be. Away Days is the result of their combined experience.

We take our viewers deep into the underbelly, with unique access, unorthodox production, and serious on-the-ground reporting. Away Days documents what the mainstream can’t. This is real outsider journalism, all completely independent.
